Craft US Crazy Challenge 7 - Mother's Day and/or Flowers...

I just don't know where the last fortnight has gone!! Anyway we are on to the next challenge for Craft US Crazy which is Mother's Day and/or Flowers.  You can choose one of these themes or do both if you choose ;o)

So onto my designs for this week!  I have done two different projects with the Sunflowerbuggies digi stamp from Meljens Designs.  I just love it!

The first project is an easel card using the Summer Driggs 'A little Spring in your step' papers which I had free as a digital download.  I love the colours on this set and to match I coloured the sunflower image in pink instead of yellow.  The image is coloured with Pro markers.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I made some paper roses and covered them with rock candy stickles.  I added some green ribbon and a bow to the easel bar and that was it!  Hope you like it. 

The next project I did used papers from the same range but this time for a little wall hanging rather than a card;

I used the same digi stamp in the same Pro marker colours to match the card.  I cut out 'flowers' on my Cricut and distressed some seam binding to match the colours.  I made more paper roses but this time I dipped them into ultra thick embossing enamel so they are really shiny (not sure this shows too well in the pictures).  The actual hanging is using a Papermania chipboard sheet out of one of their  mini album packs.

Anyway I hope you like my two little projects;o)  I hope you'll have a go with the challenge this month.

Mother's Day Gift

Just a quick note with some pictures of the Box I have painted for my mum for Mother's Day.  I will just post a few pictures as there are more here . 

I painted a small box as practice first and then did the larger one for mum.  I used the paint fusion technique with the rose stamps that you can get here .  I know that roses and rosehips actually come out at different times of the year but like the effect of roses growing up the box and the rose hips hanging down - so artistic license here LOL. 

I have lined the box with some flocked sticky back paper.  Not sure what mum will use it for but thought it would look nice in her bedroom and nice for keeping scarves and things in.  I hope she likes it!!

My husband and I have shared 36 years together and we have 2 sons and a daughter and 2 glorious grandkids ages 3 and 6.

I started collecting vintage cards quite by accident. I was helping with my aunts estate sale and ran across her collection. The cards were so wonderful that I fell in love with them and have been collecting them ever since.

I love to get a new vintage scrapbook and read all about the lives and times of the individual. Some of their stories are truly inspiring.

I have gone with the Spring part of the theme and done something a little different;

So I have made a notebook using my Cinch.  I took two chipboard pieces for the front and the back and then painted them in dark acrylic paint.  I let this dry completely then painted with PVA glue.  Then before this dried totally I painted a layer of lighter coloured acrylic paint (although normal emulsion works just as well) then dried it all with my heat gun which resulted in the lovely crackle background.  I then stamped the butterfly and the roses in pale stazon ink.  I then painted with acrylic paints.  When this was dry I re-stamped over the top of the butterfly with Perfect medium and used some gold sparkle embossing powder to get the outline.  I then stamped and embossed the words.  I punched the holes in it with my cinch along with some notepaper and threaded it onto my wire. 

I'm really pleased with how this turned out and I am in love with the paint fusion technique!

Butterfly paint fusion card

Hello - how is everyone?  I hope the weather with you is as nice as it is here!  I am having a rest this afternoon as i had a busy morning as I had to go for a scan and then went food shopping with my mum so I'm worn out now as I suffer from terrible exhaustion due to my fibro.  However, I must get going tomorrow on my mother's day present for mum - I am decorating a lovely large heart shaped box which I am going to paint with roses.  Once I have done it I will post pictures.
Anyway I thought I would share with you my very first attempt at paint fusion, which is the new technique developed by Sheena Douglass.  You can see the stamps and DVD etc here .
So here is the card I made;

 So I used a piece of mount board which I painted with a dark acrylic paint, then, when dry, I painted a layer of PVA glue and then a layer of paler acrylic paint.  I then dried it with my heat gun which makes the crackle effect for the base.


The card base is a Kraft card covered with white wash core'dinations card which was embossed through the Cuttlebug and then sanded and punched.


I then stamped the butterfly and the wild roses onto the mount board.  I painted them up with Plaid paints.  When dry I stamped over the butterfly again with perfect medium and embossed with WOW powders . 

I finished by stamping and embossing the words and then all around the edge of the board too.  I matted and layered onto some pastel card and the front was done ;o)

I popped some more embossed whitewash card inside topped with a couple of nestie shapes and aa little sentiment which I had in my box.
My mum has had this card for a neighbour, whose birthday is this weekend - she's in her eighties and she loves anything handmade ;o)

Card inspired by Sue Wilson

Hello again  -I'm getting better at more regular posting, just hope it lasts LOL.  Anyway thought I would share a card I have made that is inspired by a similar card made by Sue Wilson on Creat and Craft TV.  I saw her do this ages ago so couldn't remmeber exactly how she did it so I did my version as I just loved the card!

 The stamps are from Creative Exprexxion U Mount range - I just love this gecko!!  They are all embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Arctic Black Aurora and Viola Black Aurora.  It doesn't show very well on the photos but they have a real sheen of colour in them!

The shapes are from a Spellbinders nestie set using Kraft card and black card.  The sentiment is from Lili of the Valey.

I added some raffia at the bottom.

I did the inside of the card to match.
